Labor Day Weekend in Vegas

Well, my honey and I returned home to Dallas Monday evening from a very fun filled weekend in Las Vegas. When we arrived in Vegas on Friday we were picked up by Steven's long time friend, Anthony (he was one of our groomsmen in the wedding). First he took us to an "off the strip" casino for their buffet. We then met up with Anthony's parents and they were gracious enough to let us borrow one of their cars for the weekend. From there we headed to the strip. We walked the Mirage, Bellagio and Caeser's Palace that night and saw the awesome water fountain show in front of the Bellagio.

The next day we woke up and headed straight to the strip again. Our first stop was the New York New York Casino. Since I am rather partial to New York, I really liked this one. At this casino there is a rollar coaster, so we rode that (eat your heart out Chaz). We then walked more of the strip and my honey gambled. (Side note: I will not be talking about any details of Steven's gambling other than that he did good. I tend to say a little too much and "jinx" him. Love you honey!)

Saturday evening was the absolute highlight of our trip. A friend of Steven's had told him to check out the VooDoo lounge on top of the Rio Casino. So first we went the buffet on the bottom floor and then headed up to the top...51 floors. Ok first off, the elevator is on the outside of th hotel and all glass, so you can watch as you go up the 51 floors. Once you get to the top it takes you to the bar area; but we didn't spend anytime in there because they had an entire outdoor bar area! It was SO beautiful! It was beautiful weather, and the strip was all lit up and you could see everything! It was so romantic up there, my honey and I just held each other and took it all in for a couple of hours.

On Sunday, we met up with Anthony's parents, Pete and Ploy, and went to an off the strip casino and ate at the buffet. (Have you noticed that I make sure I reference the buffet's? Yeah I was in heaven!) It was wonderful getting to meet some of the people who are very special to Steven. Pete and Ploy are probably some of the nicest people I have met and spoke with. Ploy then took Steven to the Single Hand Black Jack table (he had never tried Single Hand). And they did good (remember no details, hehe). So then I asked my honey for $20 so I could try; yep lost it all in about 4 hands (see I can give details about me because I am not superstitous). So I decided to head back to the slot machines which are idiot proof. After meeting up with Pete and Ploy we went back to the strip and Steven gambled some more. We then walked all of the shops at Caesar's Palace and saw the Exotic Car museum (very nice!) and the Christian Lassen Art Gallery (one of Steven's favorite artists). He then took me to the place where I would like my husband to bury me when I die....the Stage Deli. This place had the BEST cheesecake I have ever tasted!!! And being that Cheesecake is my favorite food (other than cake icing) I was in heaven. Oh and the Cheesecake slices were HUGE! That pretty much was my dinner...best dinner I had the entire time :) We finished up the night going back to the Bellagio and photographing/filming some more of the water foutain shows.

The next day, Monday, was our last day. Our flight left at 2 pm; so Anthony came with us to an off the strip casino so Steven could gamble again. While we were there I won $24.00...I was so pumped! And Steven did good. We then ate Panda Express and headed to the airport.

I will have to say, it is definately the "city that never sleeps" because I think we came back more exhausted than when we left....kinda defeated the purpose of a relaxing getaway. But it was worth it. You can check out all of the photos at www.stevenleija.com just go to his photo gallery :)
