So, I am trying out a new strategy for my pick 'ems called the Mascot Match-Up; I simply evaluate the mascot for each team and then assess which one would win if they fought each other.
#22 Tenneessee (Volunteers) vs # 5 Florida (Gators)
A gator would eat a volunteer in a minute; unless that volunteers name is Steve Irwin. But since Steve Irwin passed away, R.I.P, I am going with the Gators.
#10 Ohio State (Buckeyes) vs Washington (Huskies)
Well in my extensive research of college mascots, a Buckeye is a tree...thats right folks, a tree. And last time I checked dogs like to leave their marks on trees. Therefore, the Huskies beat the Buckeyes.
#9 Louisville (Cardinals) vs Kentucky (Wildcats)
This is a tough one, a wildcat would eat a cardinal in a hot minute, but you must factor in that a cardinal could fly away...but in then end. I give it to the wildcats.
Notre Dame (Fighting Irish) vs Michigan (Wolverines)
That little Leprechaun is quite frightening, he reminds me of a carnie (circus folk); so I am going to root for the wolverines...they are magically delicious.
LA Monroe (Warhawks) vs ATM (Aggies)
Well, the Aggies mascot is the very fierce Collie; watch out folks! Now in most situations I pick the bird, because they can just fly away...but does anyone remember a dog named, Lassie? That dog was like McaGyver!
#16 Arkansas (Razorbacks) vs Alabama (Elephant)
The scent of a Razorback (aka Natural Light) could deter ANY enemy. the elephant is going down!
#21 Boston College (Eagle) vs #15 Georgia Tech (Yellow Jackets)
So once again I go with the bird here; Eagles win!
#24 Hawaii (Warriors) vs UNLV (Rebel)
Aren't these essencially the same thing? I guess the difference is an indian vs a hillbilly...and in this case an Indian would win...therefore, the Warriors.
Texas Tech (Red Raiders) vs Rice (Owls)
Are you kidding me?! An owl vs my homeboy 'Raider Red'...no competition, and if he gets into a bind I got his back...our kind stick together.
#1 USC (Trojans) 24 vs #14 Nebraska (Cornhuskers) 17
Those crazy pitchfork carring farmers are so protective of their corn; and its all they have...but the trojans have a horse for their mode of transportation vs a tractor...so the Trojans take this one.
