Its a New Year!

With the timing of my "career transition" (thats what I am calling it...sounds better then getting laid off) being during the holidays it was hard for me to get into a groove. But with Christmas break officially over (we took Gabriella back yesterday and Jacey started school this morning) I figured now would be a good time to get into a routine. This new routine has me getting up an hour before the family to get some quiet time in (I got this idea from Mom) and then getting Jacey ready in a less rushed manner; which I know she appreciates. I also can make Steven a nice protein smoothie for his drive in to work. This is all pretty nice because by 8:15 they are all out the door and I am already put together and ready to start my day. I am actually killing some time before I can start my errands (first stop is Costco and they dont open until 10am).

I am looking forward to 2008; I set some personal and career goals for myself. My first personal goal is to run a full 5k; currently I run/walk a 5k. The second is going back to school. I am enrolling in classes and they start January 21. I am very excited about this. The degree I am pursuing is Commercial Photography; it is a hybrid of digital photography and graphic design. Is that perfect or what?! I have to knock out ONE more basic, a dumb PE credit. But I am making the most of that and signing up for a running class which will help me achieve personal goal #1!

My career goal is for Bella Designs Studio (BDS) to take off! Over the holidays I designed a window screen to go on the back of my SUV. Steven's dad does window screens, so while we were back home in Lubbock we had him print and install the screen; it looks great! I will take a few photos of it a share with you tomorrow! The next step is to get my advertising on theknot.com. This is quite pricey I have learned, so I am really letting faith guide this. I really need to start getting bookings to help offset this cost. (Prayer would be wonderful from all of you!) I am also going attend the Dallas Bridal Show at the end of the month to scout things out. I want to see what other photographers are offering, their pricing and how they present their products. My goal is to have a booth at a bridal show within a year. I am also attending a few training classes, Nikon School, Southwest PPA and a hands on studio lighting course at our favorite camera store, Arlington Camera.

Well it is time to start the grind. Costco is about open and Dallas morning rush hour traffic should be dwendling down.

Keep Smiling!
