School

I just finished up my first week back to school and I can already tell you it is going to be a great semester...but a tough one! In the past, the first class meeting or two is spent covering the syllabus, meeting the students/professors, etc...not this time. In every class we jumped right in, and I already have homework, projects and a even a test for the next meeting time for each class.

The Weight Training class is going to be a fun one for me, and although it is not tough, it is just sticking with the commitment.

My Photographic Science class is going to be a tough one for me; it is very heavy on Math and Science...the two subjects that were very challenging for me in high school. This is the class I already have a test in on Monday...wonderful.

The Photographic Studio Management class is going to be a great class; I really like the professor, he has over 30 years of photography industry experience and he developed this class and got it accredited with the college board because he felt this was essential for photographers. In this class I already have 3 homework assignments that we will discuss during our next meeting time.

My Digital Publishing - In Design class is going to be a blast; I love my professor, I had her last semester. She is laid back, but very knowledgeable. In this class we will be creating our own magazine complete with logo, cover art work, articles, etc. Should be a lot of fun! A LOT of outside class time is going to be required for this class. Oh, but on a side note, the grade range for an A in her class is 94-100; going to have to step up and work extra hard to maintain my 4.0!

My last class, in all honesty, is the class I am most dreading. It is a storyboard class; which is geared for the animation and video production students. The only reason I am taking this class is because the degree plan for Commercial Photography wants us to dabble in the areas of video, animation and web so that we at least have an understanding of these other aspects in the design industry. My homework for this class is insane! I am have to create 10 'dvd' drawings. Basically I find a movie, hit pause, and draw everything I see on the screen. I am to spend no less than 15 minutes and no more than 1 hour on each drawing. Oh, and the professor is a bit extreme. He told us that hardly anyone makes an A in his class. Great.

So that is my first week in a nutshell. Time to get focused and have a good semester. My goal is to graduate with honors, so I can't lose sight of that.
