This weekend was one that was filled with many trips down “memory lane”. First, on Saturday night, while Steven and I were exiting the sanctuary and church I ran into a friend of mine, Roberta Lima. Roberta and I go all the way back to 7th grade. We were best of friends all through middle school and up into the 10th grade of high school. But then she moved and we lost contact. It was so awesome getting to see her; we exchanged numbers and I plan on giving her a call this week to catch up on all of the lost years.
Second, this weekend the church my family and I attended when we first moved here to the Dallas area from Colorado almost 15 years ago, Oak Hills Community Church, was celebrating it’s 25th Anniversary on Sunday. My family and I stopped going to this church about 5 years ago, so it had been a long time since we had seen a lot of people. It was a very good day, filled with many moments of reminiscing and moments of shock to see so many of the kids who had grown up. Many people did not even recognize me, most said “the last time I saw you, you had that real short hair cut and you were a toothpick”…so glad that is the last image of me they had in their mind! Haha! And then they had pictures up all around the fellowship hall from years back; wow I was a NERD! (Oh, and they had cake!)
All in all it was a wonderful weekend and I hope to keep in touch with a few people that I ran into.
