The Flu Bug is Back for an Encore!

Yes, the Leija house just can not seem to escape the flu this year. 2 days before Christmas, Jacey brought the stomach flu home from daycare and spread it to myself, my mom and younger brother Chaz. And it found its way back into our home today.

This morning, Jacey woke up and immediatly Steven and I could tell that she was not feeling good. She is a rather perky and outgoing little girl, and this morning she was real quiet and moody. I took her temperature and it was 102. I did the usual fever reducing things; baths, washcloth on the forehead, fever reducer medicine, etc. But by 2:30 it had reached 103.9. In a panic I called the doctor and they got her in at 4:30.

They swabbed her for strep and flu; and the flu test came back positive. She has upper respitory flu. Her doctor informed us that she is to rest for the next 4-5 days (aka no daycare) and he prescribed her some antibiotics. Just a few years ago, flu just had to run its course...so its nice that a medicine was created for this kind of flu. The doctor also let Steven and I know that since this kind of flu was highly contagious, that we were at risk as well. So he saw both of us and prescribed us an antibiotic as a preventitive measure as well.

So this week, Steven and I will be swapping who gets to work from home and take care of Jacey-Beth.
