Wow, it has been over a month since I have blogged! I apologize to all of my readers (all 3 of you), hehe.
Christmas
This year was our first Christmas as a family; and I really wanted it to be a special one. On Christmas Eve we went to dinner with our dear friends, the Abee's and another friend, Mike Johnson. Jeff and Lisa were one of the first people I met when Steven and I started dating; and they have become very special to me. Lisa is like a long-lost sister to me; and Jeff is one of the most genuine person I have met. Jeff's daughters, Katie & Lauren, were in town from Chicago so we were able to spend time with them as well. It was a wonderful evening spent with great friends and reminiscing of the past year.
Christmas Day we went to my parents house in Denton. We opened gifts and ate a nice Christmas meal. We all then relaxed and watched "Must Love Dogs" and "Snow Walkers"...both good movies! That night Jacey got sick with the flu and spread it onto myself, my mom, and my brother Chaz.
December 26th was Christmas at Casa de Leija. This year we didnt get Gabby until noon on the 26th, so that is when we celebrated. Santa made a special lunchtime trip to deliver gifts, and he even ate the yummy German cookies we left out for him! The girls received clothes, educational games, movies and stuff for their new rooms for when we move into the house. My honey (err, I mean Pancho Clause) suprised me and got me a MP3 player and a new Nike Dri-Fit work-out outfit--both awesome gifts!
Post Christmas
On Saturday, December 31st, Steven's brother Bobby flew in for a nice relaxing visit. We took him out to all of our favorite restaurants, and showed him where we were building the new house. I really enjoyed our visit with Bobby, he is a lot of fun...I really wish we saw him more.
New Years Eve
Well New Years Eve is a very special night for Steven and I (well maybe not him, but certainly for me). It was 2 years ago on New Years Eve that Steven and I had our first date; and our first kiss at midnight. (Just an interesting side note: Steven and I said "I love you" for the first time on April 16, 2004---and one year later, to the date, we were married. Just figured that one out a few weeks ago.) Anyway, NYE was hosted by another set of dear friends, Don and Marita, at the home they just purchased. The highlight of that evening wasn't our anniversary, or watching the ball drop...oh no...it was the Chocolate Fondue Fountain set up on her kitchen table!!! That thing stole the night! I am asking for one so when we entertain at the new house we can have it set up. Oh, who am I kidding! Its going to be going 24/7 for me! That thing ROCKED!
Cotton Bowl Game: Texas Tech vs Alabama
We don't talk about the game...enough said.
Steven
Steven is doing great; our New Year resolutions were to get healthy...and we are doing it together, which is nice because it keeps me accountable. He is also crossed the line from Football Fanatic...to Football FREAK! Watching College Football on Saturdays and jumping around like a crazy person wasn't enough; Fantasy Football wasn't enough....oh no...he now is "helping Tech's football coach scout and recruit"...I say that in quotes because Coach Leech has no idea that Steven is helping him, haha! My husband is watching all of the recruits, knows their stats, their "star" ranking, what universities they have visited and which ones they are considereing. Its a sickness I tell ya! Actually--its rather cute...makes him even more adorable to me.
Jacey & Gabby
The girls are doing great. Gabby is learning how to read in school and is taking gymnastics. She is so darling and really fun to be around. She really has a funny side to her; always saying something goofy. And she has her FIRST loose tooth...very exciting! Jacey is Jacey...silly as can be, and loves the spotlight of attention. She is learning her colors in school and learning to sing her ABC's (so far its "ABC, ABC, ABC" to the tune of ABC's--pretty darn cute).
Me
Well not much is going on with me that is interesting...just working. I really love my job and the people I work for and with. It's rather time consuming and stressful at the moment, but I thrive in an atmosphere like this. I am in the process of creating a selling brochure for a lobbyist of ours from Washington, and publishing our Winter newsletter that is sent all the way up to the Pentagon.
Well that is the last month of our life in a nutshell! Oh, we had our pre-construction meeting for the house almost a week ago; and our slab should be poured be the end of next week sometime. We met our builder, and we really liked him...we walked away with extreme confidence and peace of mind.
I will blog more frequently in the future...promise!
