Something For Nothing...

I don't have many pet peeves in life; but the few that I have, I firmly stand behind. One of my peeves is people who want something for nothing. People who are looking for their payoff from society and the government. Take my most recent event:

June 9, 2005: I am driving to Staples for some wedding invitation envelopes for a client. I am in my 2002 Ford Explorer in the left turn lane. A 2005 Honda Accord is in front of me, and as the light turns yellow it appears she is going to proceed through the light; but at the last minute, she stops. I was already prepared to stop at the light, so I was going at a maximum of 5 mph, but due to her split second decision to wait, I rear-ended her. So we get out and do the regular exchanging of insurance, etc. There was NO damage to either car so I did not call the police.

June 15, 2005: I get a call from my insurance company that a medical claim has been filed and they need to come out and photograph my vehicle.

June 17, 2005: Insurance adjuster comes to photograph my Explorer. He asks, "well what body shop did you take it to", I reply "There was no damage", he then proceeds to photograph the car, all the while he his laughing because he can't believe how asinine this claim is. He tells me not to worry and this claim will be overturned.

September 8, 2006: (ONE YEAR 2 MONTHS LATER) I am served with papers stating I am being sued for "Loss of Enjoyment of Life"....can you believe that!?

November 13, 2006: We are told that the case is being thrown out, but don't be surprised if I get served one more time because she has 2 years from the date of the accident to try and sue.

March 28, 2007: Served papers AGAIN. Once again I am told, don't worry about it, I am sure they will throw it out.

September 5, 2007: I get a phone call from the insurance appointed attorney stating they need to schedule a time for my deposition.

This is getting ridiculous! It has now been 2 years and 2 months from the 'accident' date. I am now going to have to take a day off of work to go and give a deposition about this whole incident.
I spoke to my insurance adjuster again today and he told me that he is having a hard time finding a private investigator for this claim because its bogus and there is zero cash in it. But its still a major inconvenience!

I have zero tolerance for people who take, take, take. Get a job and quit looking for a way to cash in on society! I swear, these people probably just sit around all day hoping something happens to them (their fault, or someone else's) so they can try and sue for it. Or the people who sue because they have zero common sense; for instance the woman who sued McDonald's because the coffee cup did not say 'Hot Coffee' and spilled it on herself. GET A JOB!

Can I get an AMEN!?

A double Amen sister! The reason why you get frustrated is because Dad & I raised you kids to work hard, do your best and rely on God & yourselves. The self-centered, greedy and materialistic voices in this world clamor long and loud! The only real thing you count on is God! You gotta rely on Him to make you more like Jesus and trust in Him to work out the fine details in life.

Grandpa Jim told me something amazing yesterday!

His message this Sunday is about one of the reasons why God allows things to come into our lives. It's to grow us up in the Lord certainly but also to proclaim His glory to the next generation! Your children (Jacey, etc) need to see God working in YOUR life! I won't always be around and they need to see it lived out in front of them, not hearing about it in their grandparents and their great grandparents lives! This was an amazing concept to me!

Amen sJuicy (Mom you took my line, she's my sister)! I got a good chuckle out of the suing for "Loss of Enjoyment of Life". What the ...? Can you believe that this person's enjoyment of life is controlled by YOU? When did you aquire this superpower? Just remember, righteousness always prevails! Conduct yourself with dignity and take the high road.
