2009

Here are my 3 goals for 2009:

1) Health: Instead of the usual goal of 'lose weight' I am setting the goal to get healthier. I want to break the habit of soda and drink more water...I did this a few months ago and could not believe the difference it made in my life! Unfortunately the only way I survived this holiday season with the work load was off of caffeine :( So I am ready to cut it back out. I also want to get better about my diet and follow the food guide pyramid a bit better. That one is tough for me...I love sweets! And last I want to get back into running. I LOVE to run. And to help me achieve that goal I am going to select one 5k per month to participate in (starting in February) and also am going to run the Tour de Fleurs, a 10k, in September. I figure if I work on getting healthier, the weight lose will happen automatically.

2) Organization: There is a lot that goes into running a business behind the scenes and my plan is to get a system down to help with this process. I am going to either build an Access database or find some software that is made for running a photography business. I need a place to not only enter all of my clients info (name, address, etc) but also need to enter their sales history, referral program cards and redemption, anniversaries, birthdays, etc. The core of my business is personalization; and no matter how large we get...that will remain the core. Handwritten thank you notes, birthday cards, etc and to do this I need to have a database to help keep me organized. The other part of this organization plan is all of the physical supplies that go into running the business (camera equipment, props, booking forms, frame corners, mat samples, framing supplies, packaging supplies, etc). I want a system for all of this as well. I think I am going to start setting aside Fridays as my 'work day' to keep everything running smoothly.

3) Me Time: I thoroughly enjoy photographing, drawing and reading. This past year I found that if I wasn't photographing in the studio...I wasn't photographing at all. I want to be sure that on days I am not photographing clients that I am out working on my own personal photography. I think this is vital for personal development. It is also a great way for me to just get away and relax for a bit. There is something about wandering country roads on the hunt for neat and unexplored areas just begging to be photographed. If I can squeeze some drawing and reading in there that would be great...but not counting on that happening, lol.

Here's your orgnaizer...in St. Louis! It's funny that you mentioned the food pyramid, I've been spending some time on their site lately. I guess what they taught us in elementary school is finally starting to stick! Love you Juicy, Happy New Year.
