What a Trooper!

(First off much thanks to Mom and Steven for taking photos today...I hi-jacked them from your blogs..hehe)

We left the house at 6:15am for the hospital for Jacey's tonsil & adenoid surgery. It was raining when we go there so Steven dropped us off at the front door and went to park the car. We went up to the Admissions & Registration desk and got all checked in. I had pre-registered so we were done with everything in about 10 minutes. We only sat in the waiting area a few minutes before they took us back to prep Jacey for surgery.

Once back there Jacey had her choice between the Monkey room or the Fish room...she chose the Monkey room. They had a hospital gown and hairnet waiting for her to change into. We got her all changed up...she looked darling :)

A few minutes later Mom & Aunt Nette arrived; they came all the way from Denton to be there for Jacey this morning! I joked that they were the paparazzi :)
I might look calm in the photo below, but trust me I wasn't!

Jacey had called Gigi earlier in the week asking if she could do 'Gigi Braids' when she came to hospital (aka French Braids). So mom got her hair all braided up. Next they came in and gave Jacey what I like to call 'the loopy juice'. It was a cocktail of tylenol and something else to make her eased and relaxed. It didn't take long for it to kick in! In this photo she is modeling her Gigi Braids about 5 minutes into the Loopy Juice:

They were then ready to wheel her off to the OR (Operating Room). We all said our goodbyes as we watched them her away....and this is when I lost it. I just hated not being in control anymore and knowing she was in someone else's hands now. Ultimately she was in God's hands which was comforting...but that mommy instinct kicks in as well. I was so very thankful to have Mom & Lynette there...they did a great job distracting me and keeping the mood light. Here we are waiting for some news on Jacey:

The surgeon, Dr. McDuffie, came out about 15 minutes later and reported that she did wonderfully! He said that her tonsils were even bigger then he expected...not only were they inflamed (the photo I posted a few days ago) but they extended back down into her throat another 2.5"-3"! And her adenoids took up about 50% of her air passage! WOW! Next, the anethesiologist came in and said that the procedure was text book...she did perfect! A few minutes later the nurse came and got me, they were bringing Jacey into the Recovery Room. I got in there right as she was waking up. That was real tough for me. Watching her struggle to come to and then the pain and confusion that followed was heartbreaking...I wanted to trade places with her so badly! I asked her if she wanted her Daddy and she said, "I don't want him to see me cry." I went ahead and grabbed him and she was happy to see him. They started to give her some Morphene, and when she wasn't reacting to that she gave her some Demerol. Once her pain was under control and an orange popsicle in her we took some photos:

She is such a Daddy's girl...which somewhat ok with me...I birthed her gosh dangit! :)

They removed her IV and gave us all of the discharge information and we were released from the hospital.
Once home Jacey fell right asleep on the couch; she slept for an hour or two and has been up every since!

She has eaten some Jell-o & Pudding (thanks Aunt Nette) along with some mashed potatoes and a yougurt smoothie! She informed us that she was just fine as long as she was eating! :) That's my girl!

I am so proud of our Jacey-Beth...so brave and tough as nails! Thank you to all of you who prayed for her and kept her in her thoughts today...everything went well! I will update soon!
